Due to recent changes in the regulations by The Department for Transport & VOSA, with regard to towing a trailer, the Trike transportation area of our business has been suspended indefinitely
while we assess the number of hoops to be jumped through if we decide to continue to operate within the HGV Laws that now apply.
The Department for Transport have abolished the small trailer exemption and decreed that the small or micro business with a van and trailer with a gross train weight up to 3.500kgs is now classified as an
HGV and is subject to the same regulations as a x9 vehicle Car Transporter or Tractor Unit towing an Arctic Trailer.
To continue to operate with a small trailer it is now necessary to have an Operators License, a CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) aka Fleet Managers Qualification, Operating Premises and a Maintenance Contract with Garage for small trailer just for starters.
The Traffic Commissioners have decided that the costs of complying with the HGV regulations will remain the same whether it be a small trailer or an arctic trailer,
There will be no reduction in fees for the small or micro business, and is in direct contradiction to the
current Coalition Governmnets pledge to CUT RED TAPE for the small or micro business.
Enterprise and Industry in the UK is being blocked by excessive and disproportionate regulation.
These Laws only apply to goods transported on a trailer.
Motorbike, Quad and all other goods carried within our Van are unaffected by these laws.
